About this presentation

This archive contains the original PowerPoint presentation:
“Flow Stability and application of CFD using a Hybrid-Low-Reynolds near wall method”
presented at THIESEL 2006.

The work investigates the prediction of mass flow and angular momentum in diesel-engine intake ports, and in particular the difficulty of obtaining a converged steady-RANS solution for flows containing inherently unsteady structures.
The presentation examines the transition from steady to transient RANS calculations, the physical origins of the observed flow instability, and the influence of near-wall treatment on the resulting CFD predictions.

Why the original PowerPoint is preserved

The presentation contains embedded animated CFD results which form an integral part of the technical argument.

These animations show the temporal development of flow structures, including jet interaction, flow instability and transient wake behaviour. Their sequencing and accompanying slide annotations provide information that cannot be retained adequately in a static PDF export.

For this reason, the presentation is preserved and made available here in its original PowerPoint format.

Original file: Microsoft PowerPoint (.ppt)
Size: approximately 20 MB
Presentation: 60+ slides
Includes: embedded animated CFD results
